Brady - A Charity Collab from the Stuff to Scrap Designers

This kit is not just any ordinary kit; it is for an amazing cause and an amazing little guy that needs a family, a home, and someone to love and care for him. The Hartman family, are in the process of adopting the sweet boy below. They feel called to rescue this little boy "Brady" from a mental institution in Eastern Europe. Because he has Downs Syndrome, Brady was abandoned at birth, just like the majority of children with any sort of disabilities in Eastern Europe and other parts of the world. lt is standard procedure when these children turn between 4-6 years old (depending on region) that they are transferred from Orphanages to full blown Mental Institutions. This transfer is very traumatic, and many times these children suffer and sometimes die due to the conditions. Brady has already been transferred and The Hartmans are trying to get to him as quickly as possible. So I told this sweet family that I would ask the girls at "Stuff to Scrap" to Help!! The cost of this adoption is well between $20,000- $30,000 and so we just want to be able to contribute a little toward that huge amount. The amazing designers at "Stuff to Scrap" have put together an awesome collaboration that can be used to donate to this great cause. All proceeds from the sell of *Brady* goes directly to the Hartman's adoption fund.

First thing I want to do is apologize to my readers. I would NEVER share anything with you that I didn't have trust in. With that said - I was duped by this SCAM as well. I had worked with Parker PR Online previously and had no idea that she was this kind of person. Since this scam has come to light - I have definitely heard about a different side of this person (supposedly Gina Parker) that I was completely unaware of.

If you have a moment - please read this post by Steph who was supposed to be like the co-host of this event. She says it better in this post than I ever could! I am just angry that I shared this with y'all. Again - I am truly sorry! All About Me - My P52!

Hi there! Hope you are having a great week! Today I am showing off my All About Me P52 project. I don't really have any prompts to go on. I am just sitting down on the weekend and reflecting back over the week. Then I will see if I have a pic for that week or if I just need lots of journaling. I have a feeling several of the layouts will be lots of journaling. This is just my way of documenting the focus that I have put on finding myself this year.

The first layout I knew I wanted to have a picture of myself in it. Let's just get this clear - I don't like my picture taken. I always think I'm fat and ugly in pictures. So my 1st task was to find a picture of myself that I was okay with scrapping.

It actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I only took like 20ish pictures and came up with 2 that I really liked. So here's what I came up with:

I used Beautiful You by ShanMomto4 Designs and the Paper Stripes template from Pixels by Jen for this layout and I really love how it turned out!

Week 2 turned out to be mostly about reflecting on what I want to accomplish this year.

The journaling reads:

This week has been about exploring what makes me happy. I love to blog and I love digi-scrappin'. Those are my hobbies. My dream is to make them my job somehow. I don't have all the answers but I do have the passion and desire to make it happen. I also worked very hard on my diet this week. It is going well. :) I am confident that this year is going to be a challenging one but well worth the effort. I do know this for sure though...

This time... Its all about ME!

For this layout I used the latest release from Kiki Halbert called That's Me! and a template from DayDream Designs by KM. Also the little Week 2 elements in the top right corner are from Creations by Julie.

So - that's what I have so far. I hope to post this each week from now on. But we all know how 'real life' gets in the way sometimes!

I know I still have Christmas pictures that need to be scrapped. Today I want to share a couple super cute kits from HD Creations.

First up is Christmas Joy. I will use this kit for many more layouts - I just love it! It's so bright and fun! Here's a look at the kit and then I'll show you some layouts I did with it!

This was for a speed scrap at GingerScraps.

Next up is Sweets and Treats. This is a great kit to show off those holiday gingerbread houses or in my case - the little ones helping to make cookies!

I used a template from ModernJune's On the Edge.

This was a template from the MLAS Dec challenge by ScrapElf.

Blogging Goals for 2011

Are we all settling into the new year? Today I want to talk about my blogging goals for 2011.

Here are a few of mine:

*Figure out how to balance my computer time between blogging, scrapping, and being on Facebook and Twitter.

*Become a better blogger (I would like to gauge that by receiving more comments on my posts)

*Learn how to actively use my blog planning calendar (instead of planning and then not following it)

*Grow my numbers on both of my main blogs - this one and Stanwood PlaySchool.

*Attend Bloggy Boot Camp in Boston, MA in May

So - do you want to help me reach my goals? I'd love any advice you can offer! I do have the last 2 in mind right now. I am joining in with this promotion called How Sweet It Is that will help me grow my numbers. Please - if you have a minute - go over and check out all the details. Wow! I've kinda been on a blogging break. It just got a little crazy with Christmas, my littlest ones 2nd birthday and prepping for the New Year. Behind the scenes I am still working diligently on a new web home for Get 2 Scrappin' - its so exciting! I am making the switch to WordPress for this blog. I am really having fun with it but there is lots to learn when you are trying to build your own website... so its not going as quickly as I'd hoped for. That's okay - good things come to those who wait - right?

So - as we move into 2011 - I do hope you have a fabulous year. If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter then you may have heard about my plan to do an All About Me project this year. I am still working out the details. I want to share it with y'all and maybe do a bi-weekly link up or something so we can share our projects with each other. What do you think? Let me know. I'll be back in a day or so to tell you all about my plans! Here's the first step - get comfortable being in pictures! I took this last night on New Year's Eve (before the fun started - lol) and actually think its an alright picture of me. Here's to a great 2011!

Well, now it's your turn to design our next Speed Scrap template to be used for the entire 2011 year.

THE RULES:
Simply create any shape Speed Scrap template (square, rectangle, circle, etc.) that has room for the designers to add their Designer Name, along with the speed scrap Date and Time.

Make sure it includes the following words: Speed Scrap, Stuff To Scrap, 7 Instructions in 60 Minutes, and 1 Great or Fabulous Layout.

Template MUST be created with any current STS Designer's kit.

Once you have your Speed Scrap template created, upload it to your gallery, linking it to the designers gallery and then post it back here for us to all see.

The most important part, make sure you send over your template to stufftoscrap.com@gmail.com with SS Template Contest in the subject line.

The winner will be annouced at the end of December.

You may submit up to 3 templates. All templates are due by December 18th.

Let It Snow and $2 Tuesday

Hi there! Are you getting excited for winter? I kind of am. I'm really not a fan of the snow - but to be honest with you - I think my boys really love it. So - for them - I try to like it! :) There are a few things that I love about the cold weather - mostly that I get to cook lots of stews and soups and bean 'n rice type dishes! So anyhow... let me tell you about this latest release from SAHM Scrapper. It was part of the iNDSD collab that people got for participating in the challenges - but Becky liked the mini so much that it grew into a full kit! Yay!

I'm not sure if you know this... but I am guest CT'ing for Misty O'Brien this month! Let me just tell you that I quite adore her work! :) I used one of her kits the other day for a speed scrap at Funky Playground and just have to share it with you - mostly because I just love how it turned out! I used the Behind the Lens collab from Misty and Boy Girl Boy Designs.

Isn't it cute? Let me tell you - Kingston did not want his picture taken with that hat on! He ran all over the yard trying to avoid us. My sister-in-law and I chased him and eventually I just grabbed him so she could grab a decent shot! lol

Okay - so now that I've bragged about my baby boy I will tell you about the challenge! :)

Over on Misty's blog you will find what is called the Yum! challenge. What we are looking for is for you to share (scrap) your favorite holiday recipe. While I was browsing Twitter last night I saw 2 different tweets about projects in digi-land that have the proceeds going to families in need. So of course I want to share them with you! :)

There are 2 fun things going on at Scrapable today and I just had to share them with you!

First up is a speed scrap this morning!

Then tonight is a Meet and Greet chat! So you can get to know all the wonderful people of the site. I think this is a great idea! Since the merge of Digi Scrapbook Mania and Scrapable there are definitely new faces around! And of course lots of people like me that mostly hung out at DSM and now have migrated over to Scrapable.

One other thing I want to remind you about today is the speed scrap at Funky Playground Designs this afternoon!

Since hubby is off today - I totally plan on creating all day! :) I've got some CT layouts to do and still some new kits from DSD weekend that I need to try out! Hope to see ya'll around today! Let me know if you are coming so I can look out for ya!

Are you ready for winter? I don't think I am but it is coming - I know it. Being a southerner, I'm not fond of the sub-zero temps nor do I really care for the snow. But I'll tell you - I do love to see my boys playing in the snow! The excitement on their faces it totally worth all that bundling up that we have to do!

Scrappers Give Thanks

This morning I want to share with you something that I found a couple of days ago.

From the site:
Scrappers Give Thanks is a charitable project of the scrapbooking community taking place annually in the month prior to Thanksgiving. Participants complete an action-oriented challenge in service to each year’s cause and are eligible to win prizes in a Thanksgiving Day giveaway. In 2010, the Scrappers Give Thanks project will deliver messages of hope and laughter to children in hospitals.

For this years project we are asked to make a 4x6 vertical page with words of encouragement or jokes or anything to help a little one smile. These will be printed and bound into books of happiness to share with children at various hospitals. What a great idea! The goal is to get 2000 cards to be made into 100 double sided mini-books!

I can't wait to put mine together! I'll be sure to come back and share it with you!

I have 2 new kits to show you today! I am not a huge fan of Halloween but I still had fun with these kits. I know for sure that after this weekend when my boys go trick or treating that I will use them to make more layouts! :) I love when I can make lots of layouts of kits!

First up is Haunted Halloween by SAHM Scrapper.

Isn't he just a cutie pie? He lives in Florida now and I sure do miss him so I had fun bringing these pics out! I also used this layout for the October Scrap What? Challenge at Stuff to Scrap.

I used this layout for 2 different challenges - the October Font Challenge at STS and the Mystery Lift at MLAS.

I love how this one turned out. It is using a template from Charm City Scraps and is for the Oct. Template Challenge at STS. Hurry over and you can get the template for free until the end of the month! I also used this for the Font Challenge at MLAS.
